Turbo Tuning / Re: Please help me tune my car
« on: October 11, 2014, 07:32:24 PM »
turn the o2 off as well.
as far as idles afr goes it took me awhile. I seem to recall having to screw around with pt throttle low load and rpm at some point but I have problems with maps moving because of CEL. 1216 seems to mess with pt throttle and wot and it has been awhile but maybe even idle. I disconnect the icv and iirc all the maps are responding properly. seems like idle load is around 110 with no accessories on.

Turbo Tuning / 413 turbo tune TPS 1216 error
« on: October 11, 2014, 07:19:32 PM »
still having issues with a 1216 error with the icv plugged in. is there an update to the file yet?

I like to have an oem idle with AC on and the only option is idle the car high with no load so that it stays running with a load.

I explained battleship for the fuel maps in the other post. keep in mind that if you get a cel for tps the maf based maps change.

I did not explain battleship for timing because it doesnt work. before I go further the timing maps were almost perfect at least in the high rpm ranges with the base tune. how do I know and what am I talking about? once you understand the different slopes af the afr based on battleship for fuel tuning you will know which cells you need to change for timing but you cannot measure timing changes in afr logs so what good is it? you know the slope of the maf. when you put it on a dyno make a small change in timing to the cell you learned about in battleship. compare torque at rpm from the dyno log. did it go up or down when you made the change? push timing up until the dyno shows torque is coming down. then back off by at least the last value you added for a safety margin. back off more if you like. what I found is that the miller base tune for timing is already very close to perfect on my car (not yours) and very few timing values had to change permanantly.

look up my response to someone elses thred on part throttle tuning to understand 1 way to tune based on not being able to trace the maf. playing battleship

you can use a scanner to get a figure out what load you are at (not as quick).
what I did was add 10 to all fuel cells. logged afr's. have you ever played battleship? load increases as you accelerate right? you know when you start to accelerate load should be fairly low and it will increase as you accelerate with a pretty constant slope if you hold the pedal constant. I take 1 row (rpm) in the low rpm range 3 cells wide but one row only and take 5 or 10 back out. you will see if you hit the right cell in a new afr log. then I take a high rpm troublespot and play battleship again. you can then draw a diagonal line from the low rpm cells that hit and the high rpm cells that hit. now you know approximately which cells hit for an acceleration (ceterus parabum(look that up it means something important)) at say 50% throttle. now that you know which cells hit get the afr right. sometimes load goes 4 or 5 columns wide for a run.
always set the value back to where they were originally if they did not change the afr log.
use an excel spreadsheet to cut and paste original values so when you look at the new log you can see which cells hit. once you get a feel for the slope of the maf (or playing battleship) highlight the cells that hit for 25% with a color, 50% with another color, 75%...once you get a feel for it you will know which specific cell needs to change. when you get really good you wont need to play battleship anymore.

Turbo Tuning / Re: w.a.r. chip base tune?
« on: May 27, 2014, 07:31:43 PM »
the base tune was safe for my 2.8 on a .140 and a to4e. I boosted to 5 psi, logged and modified. when I got it where i wanted I went to 8, 12, 15, 18. no problems. just small increments. the base tune is to get you to a dyno then with your logs they will dial it in.

413, I followed all directions to enable. the problem is that if I look at the DME through it shows 26mph but if I look at the signals from the sensor in the dif its 0 and if I look at the wheel speed sensors for abs it says 0.

launch control does not work becasue its waiting for 0 speed to enable. rev limit on works above the 26mph speed the dme sees. I suspect the DME or the chip.

1-launch control doe not work and rev limit only works above 0 ground speed

2-1216 TPS error? any progress?

do you have a vacuum leak?

its impossible to answer with a yes or no. too many variables. run to the suggested limit and  then review your afr with boost and rpm. then modify. continue to do the same until you have 12.5 for everything under 5psi and 11.5 for everything above. go in 1000 rpm increments. but dont move forward until the last rpm range has the correct afr

I think the common upgrade is the blue top 24lb injectors

I would get your afr correct first. check for leaks /restrictions. then tune it to the proper afr. once you have that right and you have fewer problems to deal with you can make a good decision about the next step. your torque is falling off at about the same place vanos is supposed to advance. if you have vanos control off and its in torque mode with the cam retracted you will see torque fall rapidly if the cam does not advance.

Im still doing allot of tuning in different maps but the car runs much better without the O2 on. you just turn it off and if your maps are decent you wont get big swings
