Knock sensors are kind of dumb since they don't ever prevent it. Once they hear knock then they do something about it. The WAR Chip does not provide any logging. You could use a good scan tool an monitor the knock sensors that way.
We use our ears and sometimes a stethoscope on the block. For the most part, our timing maps will be pretty much where they need to be for a given setup and fuel type. If you are on a dyno, you can safely play with timing to SEE what the changes are netting. If you are playing with timing and you hear a ping here and there while you are advancing, just retard it slightly in those areas and you'll be fine. A little bit of knock won't hurt anything. It is the continuous occurrence if left unresolved that will hurt an engine.
