Title: Helpful Info for Basics of Tuning, post them here.
Post by: ding on May 11, 2014, 05:17:43 AM
Figured we should have a thread for people to share videos or sites that help with the basics of tuning AFR, and timing.  So if anyone has any, please post them here.

I explained battleship for the fuel maps in the other post. keep in mind that if you get a cel for tps the maf based maps change.

I did not explain battleship for timing because it doesnt work. before I go further the timing maps were almost perfect at least in the high rpm ranges with the base tune. how do I know and what am I talking about? once you understand the different slopes af the afr based on battleship for fuel tuning you will know which cells you need to change for timing but you cannot measure timing changes in afr logs so what good is it? you know the slope of the maf. when you put it on a dyno make a small change in timing to the cell you learned about in battleship. compare torque at rpm from the dyno log. did it go up or down when you made the change? push timing up until the dyno shows torque is coming down. then back off by at least the last value you added for a safety margin. back off more if you like. what I found is that the miller base tune for timing is already very close to perfect on my car (not yours) and very few timing values had to change permanantly.
