Just pick up a older dell D630 (D620 and D610 with work also) for $100 off ebay or craigslist.

These old business laptops that everyone and their mother has are great..

I would check the following in this order,

vacuum leaks (pressure test)
throttle body spring, idle screw, throttle cable
TPS
ICV
MAF

Glad you got it figured out!

Please post what changes you made to the base map which you received from the reseller.

General Discussion / Re: S54 OBD1 WAR conversion
« on: April 20, 2014, 08:26:15 PM »
If anyone finds the info I would be curious to see how many features were retained with switching to the older 413 DME. I'm assuming the older DME does not have the output for double vanos on the S54 motor.

I guess with time and money anything is possible, personally I would invest in obtaining a different tuning solution for the superior s54 DME

Not to kill your dreams here but this is not possible. WAR chip is designed for an obd1 DME which cannot be used with the s54 motor.

GEN III MAF Conversion support / Re: ECU 179 vs 150

Greetings from Poland neighbor!

I am not 100% sure, however I believe the 179 DME looks at a few different variables in comparison to the 150. Im sure youre excited but my suggestion is that you wait and enjoy it once the 179 shows up!

In my case I had to try two different war chips (different revisions) in order to make it work with my 413 DME.

Good luck

Yup, a wideband is always helpful when tuning.

I wouldnt disable the o2 sensor unless you are looking to tune and make adjustments. The o2 feedback is very usefull so turning it off does you no good.

Most widebands out there: AEM, PLX, Innovate, can work as a wideband or a narrowband, your DME accepts a narrowband signal.

You can use only one bung in your exhaust and make it work however, if you use the AEM wideband to feed a narrowband signal and leave your o2 sensor unplugged you will still get a check engine light as it will be looking to see the resistance from the heating circuit. In this case you can leave your o2 sensor plugged in and simply not install it in the exhaust, or use a resistor.

A couple things that come to mind.

Clean/replace/seal rubber turkey neck for ICV where it clicks in under the intake manifold. Epoxy works great. Is the ICV ok?
Pressure test for vacuum leaks with as much pressure as you plan on using on the road.
Test temp sensor in cylinder head.

Sounds like its something simple but my advice would be not to take it to the dyno before having this addressed.

I believe I have a turner tune for your hardware, you could use it to test and rule out that its a war chip problem.

No you don't need an internet connection. That wouldn't make sense.

The DME can throw random codes such as the 1211 when the map is off or there is a hardware issue (ex. vac leak)

I have tuned out problems such as code 1211, however my setup is different than the map was originally designed for. In other words I dont think it is your map/war chip, its most likely a hardware issue, you can either find it and fix it or tune for it to make the DME happy and so it does not throw the code.

is it possible to download the war software without having the chip connected to the PC?
i'm waiting for my chip to arrive and been trying to install the software to my VMware version of XP pro but no use, whenever i click on the file that is named: THIS_RUNS_WIZARD all it does is open the java folder in the windows folder C:\WINDOWS\java

is there something wrong or this is a normal case due to the WAR chip not being connected to the PC?

I was able to install the software without having my WAR chip connected on both, an xp laptop as well as my win 7 desktop box. Try extracting the Wizard Files to a folder and running the executable MillerWizard.jar file.
