Turns out that this too was a Java problem. Had the latest Java installed on the Host computer (Windows 7), but not in the Virtual Machine running Windows XP. Downloaded the older version of Java that Miller posted into the VM of XP and all is well. Now, if only I could get the VM of XP on my MacBook Pro to connect to the WAR Chip i'd be golden. My PC laptop running XP in VirtualBox is dirt slow while my MacBook Pro running a VM of XP is notably faster...

Ok, so since I was having some trouble getting the WAR Chip to connect to a Virtual Machine running XP on my Mac via the USB port, I decided to use another PC that is running Windows 7 Home Premium. Downloaded VirtualBox and loaded XP Professional onto the Virtual Machine. Now, in XP I can access the USB and WAR Chip but when I run the WAR Chip Wizard all it does is open a Java tab with the address C:\WINDOWS\java. Inside of that Java tab is 2 folders labeled "classes" and "trust lib" which don't seem to have anything in them. WTF? What am I doing wrong here? Can anyone point me in the right direction? So NOT a computer guy. My brain thinks in gears and moving parts...not zero's and 1's...:) Thanks.

Anyone out there successfully connected their WAR Chip to a Mac running Windows XP in a Virtual Machine via VirtualBox? I have VirtualBox setup on my MacBook Pro with Windows XP Professional. Problem is, when I plug in the USB cable from the WAR Chip, I can't access it through the Virtual Machine and XP. I have enabled USB usage in the VirtualBox settings, and made a filter for the WAR Chip USB, but when I try to connect to it in the Virtual Machine it gives me an error message that it failed to attach the USB device. Anyone that has done this successfully? If so, what did you need to do to get the WAR Chip to connect in the Virtual Machine?

WAR Software Support / Re: Windows 7 and the WAR Chip

Again, we are working on resolving the compatibility of the chip and Win7. Once this is ready, existing chips will need a firmware update which we will provide instructions on how to complete it.

So this means that eventually, The WAR Chip will work directly with Windows 7 without the need for Virtual XP? Was just looking at the XP Mode information over at Microsoft.com and it says that they will be ending all support (including security upgrades) for XP on 4/8/2014 and anyone using XP after that time may become more vulnerable to viruses, etc. when connected to the internet. Will the WAR Chip Windows 7 compatibility be corrected by then?

General Discussion / War Chip for an 073 and 060 ECU/DME?
« on: February 19, 2014, 10:29:09 PM »
Been trying to contact someone at Miller but have not yet gotten any email replies, etc. so I figured i'd ask in here in the hopes that someone from Miller sees it.
Anyway, trying to find out is Miller has a MAF Conversion/WAR Chip combo that will work on 2 DME/ECU #'s not listed on their site. First one is a 073 ECU (0 261 200 073) from an E30 325i. The second one is an 060 ECU (0 986 261 060) from a Euro-spec E30 M3. Anyone out there know if there are applications for either of these DME/ECU's? I would try calling Miller directly but i'm in Manila, Philippines and the time difference makes it a bit difficult to call. Thanks!
