General Discussion / Re: E30 325i difficulty fine tuning
« on: September 02, 2014, 03:07:00 PM »
Our dyno now resides in California so getting a tune done in Vancouver is no longer an option. What is the air fuel ratio doing under said condition in 1st gear? If you don't have that basic info you can't help yourself nor can we help you.

Download and install java. www.java.com

It is required and is also free.

You really need at the very minimum a wideband air fuel ratio gauge. Also, what octane fuel are you using? Knowing your air fuel ratio will allow you to dial in the power more precisely where fuel can make a difference. For the timing, the only true way to know is on the dyno. But if it is not pinging, using our normal MAF timing curve will be safe and reliable for now.

Naturally Aspirated Tuning / Re: Best tune for this setup

Hi there,

Try this tune as a starting point. M52 OBD1 Manifold 21 Lb Inj 3-5 MAF.mpc

If that doesn't work, email us and we can send you another file we don't have in the WAR Room yet.

Excellent news. Sorry for the delay in responding, we have so many phone calls during the day and the forum member are usually pretty great at helping each other.

If you could email us pictures of the car and dyno graph, we would love to feature it on our facebook page for the rest of our fans to see! That is excellent power too!!!! 8)

Is the 540 maf actually working? What are you air fuels? Do you have a check engine light on?

You'd be surprised how well the stock air flow table curve will work with a 540 MAF. You'd also be surprised what tuners sell 3.5" MAF tunes using stock software...

52
That is quite high in compression. Our 11.5:1 engine with suitable aftermarket cams for the application is only making 205 PSI.

You need to reduce your timing. How much, you will have to determine that. With such high compression like that, I would venture to guess you will need to pull at least 4 to 5 degrees of timing under high load areas.

General Discussion / Re: measured air flow

Assuming you have the MAF and WAR Chip. Start with the provided base tunes there and work from that. The most important thing for the ECU is that the tune is calibrated to match the MAF and injector size. Everything else the ECU can take care of in terms of flow. The fuel maps are correction tables to "correct" the theoretical amount of fuel calculated by the ECU based on load.

Timing is another thing, but won't be too hard to dial in. The tunes provided will be a decent starting point.

Turbo Tuning / Re: need little help with 402 supercharged tune

Scale the fuel with the provided fuel maps. Is it rich everywhere or only certain RPM's? Is it ok at idle and part throttle, just rich in boost? Let us know how rich it is and under what conditions and we will be able to help.

Turbo Tuning / Re: m50 hx35 tune

There are no turbo tunes for the Non vanos engines. Simply put, the electronics are sub par and prevent one from using a better, higher reading MAF and thus no one offers a tuning solution for turbo non vanos engines. That isn't to say you can't make one on your own with some time and effort. It is just no company makes a tuning solution because of how limiting the MAF is on the non vanos engines.

For those that were using the file "S50 24# 3-5 MAF.mpc" that was customer submitted, I have fixed the problem. Small oversight on our part in regards to setting up the checksum for that particular file. The easiest thing to do is download that tune from the WAR Room and transfer any changed you have made into the new version. CEL will stay out now.

Turbo Tuning / Re: Is this normal? Fuel map 50lb inj
« on: April 15, 2014, 09:41:30 AM »
What base tune have you started with? Because you are running such large injectors you will have a difficult time with the base tunes you have available. We do not have a base tune set up for the 535 air flow meter and 50# injectors. If we did, you would not have to take away so much fuel.

Just to let you guys know, a proper Windows 7/8 version is almost ready. We have had the memory chip become obsolete and NLA so we have pushed back the release until we determine what if any changes will be needed to make in terms of firmware/software compatibility.

General Discussion / Re: S54 OBD1 WAR conversion
« on: April 15, 2014, 09:34:56 AM »
It is possible. I know of one S54 that was converted to the OBDI 413 ECU using our WAR Chip. Contact Vic Sias at SIAS Tuning. It was his customer that he did that for.

No that is not normal. What tune, what ECU file?
