Hey Everyone,

I'm starting to pile up parts for a lowboost turbo build and am curious how to go about tuning. I've looked into RK tunes, TRM tuning and the similar and cant see spending 1300$. I am currently running a 96 m52 with 110k, elec fan conversion, m50 manifold, m50 pcv setup, m3 midpipe/scorpion catback.

Have not had a chance to see where the compression is at but will ultimately end up doing so before the build.

A friend of mine wants to give me his gt35r, and I am currently looking into a ford 6.0 diesel intercooler that was picked up recently for free: Dimensions: 26.5"x21"x2.5".

I would run a topmount manifold and either a 3" or 3.5" DP

HG and studs would remain stock being that I want to run a low boost setup until im done with body work, Would love to keep the stock MAF as well.

Can someone lead me in the direction of WAR tuning and how it can be done?

Hello, I just bought an 88 535is that already had the War chip installed, the gentleman I purchased the vehicle was nice enough to give me the laptop to go along with the car as well. I was trying to write a tune 1 to the car just to see if i could tell a difference from the current tune. I was prompted to set a default tune first. I clicked on the default tab, opened it and pressed set as default, nothing has happened and now the car will not start, just turns over. As I am currently stuck away from the house any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance. Ken  I selected the write option, screen shows working but it has been at 5% for quite awhile. How long should this take?

I have a Miller MAF and warchip on my turbo m30 e34, and have been checking the forum and site every few months for going on 4 years hoping to see a release date for v3. It seems that for the last year or so, requests for updates from other forum members have gone unanswered. Is any development being done or planned? I'm planning to upgrade to the 4" MAF in conjunction with a number of other intended changes to my 535i, but would like to know that this product line isn't just in maintenance mode before re-investing in Miller's products. Thanks!

I don't know how I can answer your questions more... Simply put, we do not have any way to tune the non vanos ECU properly. You cannot change the MAF to a better sensor, scaling the injectors while maintaining the stock MAF is useless. The VANOS base maps DO NOT translate to the NON vanos systems. I stated it would be best to go standalone for a non vanos engine OR switch to a VANOS harness and ECU but at that point, just get at car with VANOS.

The only question that does not address is the crank and piston slap. You can put whatever crank you want in there that fits, but again, you will not be tuning it for turbo with the stock ECU. Piston slap when cold can be normal, or it can be a bad sign. It could also be a bad lifter or... without hearing the car in person it is hard to determine what the noise is.

I have Bosch 403? Not sure if I have a Vanos harness tough. It is not piston slap just a little valve sound like this:

So I am not sure if I can sell the car since I have made it sort of a road legal drift missile but really is that my only option other then to buy a vanos engine or go stand alone?

Ok, Everything has been working since mid January.
today I may have found an undocumented not to do.

I went to load a new tune, everything was working normal , chip was found, started the write, the write was working.

While still writing (poor thinking on my part) I recalled I had set the TCM into position #2, wanted it in pos #1, flipped it to position #1, lost connection to the chip, write was not complete, now the WAR software is no longer able to find the chip at all.

The chip has always been a bit slow 10 to 15 min, however it has always connected and loaded.

I have given it several hours, several attempts, not able to find the chip.

I have verified the USB cable is connected, checked for breakage in USB cable with ohm meter,  the chip shows as connected hardware on the PC safe hardware remove window. Shows as a removable drive in Explorer. (the computer is finding the chip)

To assure isolation from any DME issue I removed the chip and tried to get connection, still no success.

I have tried reloading all WAR software, reloading the ECU file
tried loading all software onto another PC , the other PC had the same fail to find chip.

Only thing I can figure is switching the TCM while up loading has caused an issue with the chip.

DME is ECU file 077, running stock engine, NA, Porsche 944. :-[
