S54 OBD1 WAR conversion
« on: February 19, 2014, 11:16:39 AM »

ok, this is going to sound crazy - but I want to do an S54 swap into my E36 racecar, but maintain the OBD1 WAR chip multi-tune functionality.  (NASA GTS3, BMW Club, Fuel Saving, Wide open)

Anybody done this?

Not to kill your dreams here but this is not possible. WAR chip is designed for an obd1 DME which cannot be used with the s54 motor.

It is possible. I know of one S54 that was converted to the OBDI 413 ECU using our WAR Chip. Contact Vic Sias at SIAS Tuning. It was his customer that he did that for.

If anyone finds the info I would be curious to see how many features were retained with switching to the older 413 DME. I'm assuming the older DME does not have the output for double vanos on the S54 motor.

I guess with time and money anything is possible, personally I would invest in obtaining a different tuning solution for the superior s54 DME
