Go ahead and format it. If you have tunes on there that you NEED to keep, just copy them to your desktop like the WAR Chip is a memory stick.

iv done that but now i cant write any map settings on. each time i try it writes it but when i try reading the chip i keep on getting a message saying

problem reading file data from chip.
try uploading files to chip before attempting to read from the chip.

iv tried to write a map to the chip a few times and keep on getting the same message.

my number is 07872994371 if it helps

Are you using windows XP? Windows seven often has trouble recognizing that the chip is there. That is why we do not support 7

Xp compatibility mode does not help the computer recognize the chip any better.
