Help me fix my AFR
« on: January 15, 2014, 05:00:40 PM »

Hello guys,

I had my car dyno tested last night to check how much power it's making.
came out with some nice numbers (203 WHP, 259 WTQ), but i was surprised by the AFR curve and the huge torque drop !!!
please check the attached picture to see the curves.
can anyone help me make them smoother and better?
attached also is the tune i used, which is the unmodified miller performance tune.

my car does not have an oxygen sensor installed (long story)
block and head are m50, rotating assembly is m52 2.8L
original Alpina headers.
stock m50 injectors rated at #17

please let me know if you required additional information.

I would appreciate all the help i can get for this matter.

I would shoot for 12.7 across the board at wide open throttle

What about the huge drop in torque that is clearly seen in the synonyms sheet, any idea or help on how to fix it?

i would say where you are having a huge torque drop you might wanna change the numbers on your warchip right where it is dropping and see where that gets you. So where the torque drop stops start there with changing the numbers possibly advance some ignition timing. idk what you have changed on your tune but im thinking possibly too much fuel or ignition timing retarded to much???

The things i noticed from that dyno visit.
i did 5 runs on the dyno, 2 runs with another ECU that has a performance chip. 2 runs with WAR chip using the performance tune, 1 run with the WAR chip with the stock tune.

the torque drop happened in the miller tunes only, while it did not appear in the other performance chip i have installed in another ECU.

i thought that the WAR tunes are dyno tested and etc... what is happening here?!

i got the sheets and data logs of my dyno runs if that helps.

I would get your afr correct first. check for leaks /restrictions. then tune it to the proper afr. once you have that right and you have fewer problems to deal with you can make a good decision about the next step. your torque is falling off at about the same place vanos is supposed to advance. if you have vanos control off and its in torque mode with the cam retracted you will see torque fall rapidly if the cam does not advance.

Something is definitely up with that. What happens when you force it to stay VANOS on or off? The scaling of the dyno plot is zoomed in soooo far. how much of a torque drop is that? Torque will usually follow the AFR curve, but we need to know if there is something else going on. We have never seen this on an NA tune when we dyno.
