CEL on 95 325is
« on: September 05, 2013, 04:57:07 PM »

Hey guys,

Got my WAR chip working today, car is running alright but I am getting CEL 1211 (DME). Anyone ever get this? I did some research and read that it doesn't effect functionality, any truth to this?

Thanks

Hi Nate,

Correct, that code does not trigger any sort of limp mode. What color is your WAR Chip and what tune are you running. Also, what ECU. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. My WAR chip is red and I am running the S50 tune with 24# injectors and 3.5 inch MAF. Using a red label 413.

That is really strange. Please email us YOUR tune right off your WAR Chip. You shouldn't have a CEL problem at all. All you need to do is copy the tunes off your WAR Chip via My Computer as if it were a USB memory stick. Also, if you can snap a picture of your chip that would be great. Once in a super blue moon, the WAR Chip will exhibit a CEL simply because all of the electrically tolerances will be on one extreme or another. If they are on the low resistance side, the WAR Chip starts up a millisecond too slow and the ECU fails to verify the first few lines of code causing it to THINK that there is missing or corrupt data.

I disconnected the battery overnight again and the code hasn't reappeared since, but I haven't driven much. I will update tomorrow after I drive for a while to see if it stays off. Thanks for all the help.

Alright well I never got around to doing this before winter, the car was put away for major suspension work. I am starting to get the car track ready for this year and have discovered the CEL is coming back on. Still getting the same code. I will email the tune I am using tonight.

The DME can throw random codes such as the 1211 when the map is off or there is a hardware issue (ex. vac leak)

I have tuned out problems such as code 1211, however my setup is different than the map was originally designed for. In other words I dont think it is your map/war chip, its most likely a hardware issue, you can either find it and fix it or tune for it to make the DME happy and so it does not throw the code.

The engine has been rebuilt top to bottom including all associated wear items. I highly doubt there is a vac leak but I will check again.
The car runs and idles perfectly.

I believe I have a turner tune for your hardware, you could use it to test and rule out that its a war chip problem.

i have the same exact issue, my car runs fine but i get code 1211 and im running red label 413 ecu with s50 24# 3.5maf tune on my s50 swapped e30, no vacuum leaks, new coils, new spark plugs, new 24# injectors, new 3.5 maf, idles perfect and pulls strong i just hate the CEL staring me in the face, any fix yet?  the tune im running is unchanged from the one in the download dropbox.

For those that were using the file "S50 24# 3-5 MAF.mpc" that was customer submitted, I have fixed the problem. Small oversight on our part in regards to setting up the checksum for that particular file. The easiest thing to do is download that tune from the WAR Room and transfer any changed you have made into the new version. CEL will stay out now.
