Basis for De-Tuning an M50B25tu
« on: October 03, 2013, 09:27:30 AM »

I bought a WAR chip so I can run multiple tunes on my ECU and run in GTS-1 or GTS-2 with my M50.  Can someone give me some general tips for de-tuning the motor for GTS-1 tunes?  I wanted to come up with a couple tunes for GTS-1, giving me the ability to run 155hp-163hp and match the torque.  I've had the car on the dyno one day before, but the falloff at 6500 was pretty severe. I believe this was due to the vanos settings.  If anyone could offer some general advice, I would appreciate it.  Thank you!

Can you scan and post your dyno graph? I want to see if it is bad or just the normal petering out. You can use a couple methods, VANOS on or off permanently and then play with timing to (usually bringing it down) to keep things from climbing past your allowable HP.

However, since HP is simply a function of torque and RPM, to keep HP flat after a certain point, TQ will have to fall (and maybe fall fast) as the RPM's rise.
